 The WWF has recently announced that it is taking the Council of the European Union to the European Court of Justice for failing to follow their own rules regarding cod fisheries and therefore breaching EU environmental law. The Council of the European Union has been repeatedly warned by WWF about the consequences of ignoring scientific advice on fishing quotas. Click below for more.

24-03-2007 10:09 - Indoor Market At The Harbour - Green Light
An Art, Craft and Produce market is to set up stall at Whitstable Harbour. Stuart Heaver of Kentish Trader has permission to convert the existing mobile office buildings on the South Quay. Producers including Godmersham Game and Core Juice have already signed up for the scheme and Bretts have offered sponsorship.
The market will cover everything from local producers to artists and potters, and artist Rob Turner has been asked to make the offices look like fishermans huts.

24-03-2007 10:32 - Sea Street Reopens
At last sea street is open to through traffic again. I wonder how many more times the narrow Whitstable streets will be blocked off by roadworks, gas main replacements and new building works? Over the past few years Whitstable residents local businesses and tourists have been putting up with these kind of disruptions on a regular basis. Fingers crossed the streets will remain open for the rest of the year and beyond.
